Product Description
The screw is the main core component of the injection molding machine. The quality of the screw determines the quality of the product. The plasticizing screw of the injection molding machine has the functions of conveying, melting, mixing, compressing, metering and exhausting, and is a key factor affecting the quality of plasticizing.
Injection Molding Machine Screw Material Classification
  • HPT Fully Hardened Powder Alloy Screw: Made of tungsten-cobalt powder alloy tool steel and integrally hardened by a special process. Overall hardness reaches HRC65°. Suitable for processing transparent products, precision products, and special high-temperature, highly corrosive plastics like LCP, PES, PPA with fiber added.
  • Double Alloy Screw: Uses SACM645 and 38CrMoAlA as base material with tungsten carbide nickel-based alloy ion spray weld. Surface hardness around HRC60°. Suitable for transparent products and engineering materials like PA6, PA66 with fiber added.
  • Electroplating Screw: Uses SACM645 and 38CrMoAlA base materials with outer surface electroplated with hard chromium, nickel, titanium. Hardness around HRC60°. Suitable for PC, PMMA, PET transparent materials and corrosive plastic U-PVC materials.
  • Stainless Steel Screw: Made from 9Cr18MoV special stainless tool steel with overall quenching + hardening treatment. Overall hardness around HRC55°.
  • SKD61 Screw: Made of Hitachi SKD61 material with special processing for good toughness and strong torsion resistance.
  • Ordinary Nitrided Screw: Made of SACM645 and 38CrMoAlA base materials with special processing. Nitride layer depth 0.5-0.8mm, overall hardness HV980~1080°. Suitable for processing ordinary plastics like PP, ABS, PS, AS, PVC.
Injection Molding Machine Screw Segmentation Description
The screw of an injection molding machine can generally be divided into a feeding section, a compression section, and a homogenizing section (also called a metering section). Different screws have different proportions of the three sections, different screw groove depths, and different screw bottom diameter transition forms.
  • Injection Molding Machine Screw Feeding Section: Fixed screw groove depth. Functions include preheating, conveying and pushing plastic solids. Ensures plastic begins to melt at the end of the feed section.
  • Injection Molding Machine Screw Compression Section: Tapering screw groove depth. Functions include melting, mixing, shearing compression and pressurized exhaust of plastic raw materials. Plastic completely dissolves in this section and volume shrinks. Compression ratio design is critical.
  • Injection Molding Machine Screw Homogenizing Section: Fixed screw groove depth. Main functions include mixing, melt transportation, and metering. Provides sufficient pressure to maintain uniform melt temperature and stabilize molten plastic flow rate.
